State Library of Victoria x RMIT

Created as part of a State Library of Victoria and RMIT University joint initiative, Transformations was one of three designs chosen to be the face of one of Melbourne’s most iconic buildings during its $88.1 million Vision 2020 redevelopment.

In situ on Swanston Street for four months over summer 2018/19, Transformations took inspiration from the Library’s collection of 15th-19th Century lithographs of flora and fauna. The colourful collage envisioned how the Library and collection will continue to evolve into the future and featured digitally-conjured creatures: possums with three tails, all-seeing birds and flowers with QR-coded petals. The work is now held within the Library’s collection.
